A woman who I have been having an affair with struck me in the face and caused me to have two blacks eyes, she struck me repeatedley. Problem is we work together. In my drunken state I forced her to the ground and pin her down by the neck. I let her get back up and she started to assault me again. Police officers turned up. Neither of us pressed charges. It is very clear that my reputation at work will be in tatters and I am worrying if I could get sacked

Oh, really. Neither pressed charges, but yes, your reputation will be in tatters. How unfortunate, but there is two sides to every story so will not chastise you here for striking back, after she gave you two black eyes, and that must have been quite a wallop.

How can we give you a satisfactory answer, Mr. Halls. We don't know who you work for, what happened, what the police said (no charges, that's good).

I would suggest you go into work with two black eyes, pride not in the balance and look everyone straight in the eye and say ' SO WHAT '.

I've been into work today - horrible, basically I broke up with her for good and she went off on one hit me in the face at least a dozen times and with her phone and headbutteed me. I pinned her down and if I'm being honest got very angry - let her back up she started again so I grabbed her and didn't give her any room to swing anymore punches, the police were fair overall - but the problem is this girl has been a nightmare from the start and has already damaged my reputation

How about a restraining order against her ?
