Hi!
I recently had my 2001 civic Clutch changed at a auto place.
A few months after, I noticed that when I STEP ON THE CLUTCH, all I hear is my quiet engine.
When I LET GO OF THE CLUTCH, I hear a rattling noise.
Could this be just a loose screw? Or it needs oil somewhere?
The clutch works perfect. No problems at all.
Please let me know! TXGREASEMONKEY!

Find out if the mechanic replaced the throw out bearing and pressure plate. Did he install the new clutch using an alignment tool? If not, noise could certainly result. Pretty hard to diagnose this from afar.
Shift linkages loose? Rubber bushings need replacing?

This is exactly why I hate dealing with mechanics. They are all thieves. They do the cheapest job for the most money. I don't think they changed the throw out bearing. I went back to them today and they said they have to take apart the transmission to diagnose the problem. I said no way. THis car is not even worth anymore money being put into it. 2001 civic with 111,000 miles. This is why I wish I can do it all myself. Thanks though Tx. I thought maybe a little oil might correct it.

I hear you--that's why I'm a do-it-yourselfer. It didn't wear off on my son, however. He's a do-it-for-me sort of guy and willing to pay. Since he lives in L.A. he really pays.

I am a big DIY but clutches in FWD vehicles are a real chore. I can send you to any number of NON thieves who would have fixed it right. Unless they replaced the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing, they didn't do the correct job. PS. Oil won't help. However, if everything works OK, I'd look for a loose slave cylinder bracket or tubing too.
