I have an animal in my system. It started a month or so ago when I wasn't using any air or heat (still not). It makes lots of noise. How in the world did it get in and how do I get it out? My ducts are in the crawlspace. I have two sets. This was a double-wide. We added rooms all around it. We put in a new air and heat system utilizing some of the old system but the rest was supposed to be closed off. I sure hope this animal cannot get in and I am sure afraid to use any air or heat since it is probably dumping under the house. What should I do? Who do I call?

The person to call is either Animal Control (depending on what you think it is) OR an exterminator/trapper.

Thank you very much for your quick response. I guess they could get the animal, but don't think they could fix the ducts. Guess that's for another day.

You kind of never know - depends on how it's getting in.

I would be MORE concerned that it can't get out and the next thing you know you'll be living with a carcass under the house.

Shuddering!

Thank you for quick response. (I put my "comment" in the "answer" block" since I am new at this). Thanks again

Thought of that. Since it has been running around for a month I think it is living under there but going out for food. I think it is a groundhog. I saw an auburn colored animal, about a foot tall, back in time out in the yard. I think I need to trap it. Hmmmm

If it does come out and wander around, sure, try a trap. I use the Have-A-Heart and then Animal Control comes and picks up whatever it is.

Thanks again. Think I will try to trap this thing first and then call animal control like you did. Hope I can get him before he or she dies or multiplies!

I'm sure you are not enjoying this conversation... but I sure am!

Multiplies? That MIGHT be worse than dying in the vent. Notice I said "might."
