I just took a urine test for my job and I just had al my teeth removed and the doctor prescribed hydrocodone for the pain andit came up positive for opiates and now I have to wait for testing to be done before I can return to work

There is a specific test that can easily identify hydrocodone and distinguish between that and the opiates. So long as you identified the hydrocodone (told them what they're looking for), any laboratory can make the distinction immediately on receipt. They simply test for hydromorphone the breakdown metabolite of hydrocodone. Should be a rapid turnaround.

Opiate false positives due to a cross-reaction with hydrocodone are not uncommon in immunoassay type tests. The administering agent should have been aware of that.
