The movie is during world war 2 (I think) and bombs keep landing all around there neighborhood. Dad goes off to fight, and the kids get into mischeif. One neighbor girl lets little boys look down her dress for money, and the older sister falls in love with a GI. Dad takes to long to come home, so they move in with grandparents who live on a river. Grandpa is grumpy, and the biys catch massive fish because a stray bomb kills all the fish, so they load the boat and bring it back. Everyone is super happy. I also remember something about Jam. Dad brings home a can, no one knows what it is, they open it and its jam. Can anyone help??

It is a black and white movie, early 40's maybe? I just remember 2 kids become friends, and they are of different religions. They play and hang out, but they are not supposed to be friends. They decide to go to eachothers church. They are scared because they feel like they have done something bad for doing that, but wahen nothing happens to either one of them they figure people are wrong. They begin to fall in love. They have to go away from each other. I don't remember much more other then they are in a boat and either they both die because of a rain storm or one of them does, but I remember it was so sad.
