Hi all,
I am born and raised in South Africa and I am trying to get my portuguese passport in any way possible, whether through my grandparents or parents.I am trying through my mother but there is a problem and I wonder if there is an easier way.
This is the situation with my mother:
My mother came to South Africa in a marriage to a portuguese man who had access to South Africa. When in South Africa they had a divorce and then my mother went on to marry my farther some years later. Now the divorce of the first marriage is not registered in portugal,so my mother is still legally married to the man of her first marriage even though he is deceased for some time already. Now before I can get my passport a few things have to be done, namely:
1.My mothers divorce has to be registered in Portugal.
2.My mothers marriage to my father has to be registered in Portugal.
3.My birth needs to be registered in Portugal.
Then I may apply for my passport.
I don't really understand what the marriage when I am my mothers biological son.
She is a portuguese citizen so I don't get it.What to children outside of marriage in Portugal, are they cast out of the society because they were not born inside the marriage.
It is a bit confusing to me.
I am thankful for help :)
