I was wondering what kinds of steps or medical help I can get to conceive twins.

Luck of the draw I'm afraid.
There's a stronger chance if twins run in BOTH of your families, but even that doesn't mean you will have them.

Like Ben said, it's all luck, if you think twins are lucky. ;)

There's no procedure that will guarantee twins, just like there's no procedure to choose the sex of the child.

You get what you get.

Invitro proceedures can increase your chances of multiples. But it won't guarantee any child being born, and it won't guaruntee twins, or triplets, or any more. It is also very expensive and not covered by insurance

Invitro is also not really an option if you don't have reproductive issues.

Any twin or multiple births in your mother's family? Genetics can play a role for some people. Some women will naturally be prone to releasing more eggs in some cycles... this can result in fraternal twins. Identical twins come from one fertilized egg splitting. There are some rare twinning occurrences as well.

Fertility medications can result in hyperstimulation of the ovary, but as was said, they are only used, or should only be used, when there is a definite fertility issue.

There is also some speculation about certain diets that may increase the possibility but thus far the evidence is inconclusive.

Older women tend to have a greater chance due to hormone shifts with age that sometimes result in changes in ovulation.

For the vast majority it is exactly as the others have said, down to chance.
