I am a licensed hairstylist and I pay booth rent in a salon(self employed). I reside in Kansas but I work in Missouri. I currently pay the 1% Mo earnings tax and I pay my estimated taxes to Mo. What other taxes am I susposed to be paying or, are those two taxes sufficient. Should I be paying some sort of taxes to Ks? If so what are they? FYI I am married with children and my husband makes the majority of our income. I made less than 16,000 in 2006 also, my husband does our taxes and he's not sure either.

You may owe Kansas state income taxes, but you should get a credit for the Missouri taxes you paid. You will have to file both Missouri and Kanasas stae tax returns. It is probably to your advantage to file jointly with your husband.
On the federal side, you will need to file Schedule C to report your hairstyling income and Schedule SE to pay self-employment taxes on the $16K you earned.
May I recommend that you get professional tax help? A joint return with SChedule C and SE plus TWO state tax returns seem to indicate professional help is needed.
