I was rejected for an internal role at work and the man who interviewed me sent me a message saying the choice was 'nothing to do with my skills, experience or behaviour', I have since found out the job was engineered for one specific female colleauge of mine. I feel I have lost out after receiving evidence this role was engineered for someone else from the start. Please help.

It is employment at will. The employer preferred someone else. I see no discrimination here.
Other than that, I see no case.
Are you covered by contract, union, employment agreement?

I do not understand what employment at will is? Surely the criteria for the role should be based on skills, experience and behaviour, I have been informed that it was not. That this role was always going to go to this lady no matter how much better at the role I was.

Also I am a full-time employee covered by an employment contract.

Let's see - I'm not a psychic. HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW YOU ARE IN THE U.K?
You have used the rating system incorrectly, by the way.
You seem to think the criteria was one thing; your employer seems to think it was another. I see NOTHING in UK employment contracts that indicates you are entitled to a promotion. Perhaps you do.
So - contact a counsellor, explain the situation, PROVE that your employer violated your rights, prove your damages, and sue your employer.
