View Full Version : 97 cavalier turned off moving at 50 mph

I was on the interstate going about 50 to 60 mph and the car turned off. I tried to recrank,it but it just sputtered back off. When I got it home, I listened for the fuel pump, which I heard engage and turned the key pressing the clutch. It began to crank, but would only keep running with the clutch engaged and applying gas. If I released the clutch or let of the gas, it will sputter and turn off. I was thinking the fuel filter maybe clogged and need replacing.

I'd focus on the Ignition Control Module and likely replace it.

That sounds like either a fuel pump that is starting to go a relay that is sticking or a faulty fuel injector and possibly a loose ground wire somewhere. Is the chek engine light on
