You've lost hair? If you're experiencing a lot of roots due to the purple dye, I would dye it back to the original brown for now (if anything at all) and let it grow out for a couple years. Additionally I would suggest you go to a professional to get it done as they would know what type of dye and formula would be healthiest. All of this dying is obviously having a negative effect if you're losing hair. It took my hair three years before it recovered from damage from professional highlights.

To get red to fade use dawn dish soap to wash your hair a few times. I had a graduate from the gene juarez academy of cosmetology tell me this. She also said that it will make your hair feel dry so it would be best to use a deep conditioner afterwards.
