Just got a MP3 for the first time. I know, I know I am way behind in the technology race. Anyway... awhile ago I was told of Limewire; apparently they are under investigation by the government... which means no more Limewire. What other sites are really good out there and easy to understand or maneuver around for downloading music.

Avoid anything that uses a web browser.

Nothing is actually safe. Just so you are aware. THe best thing to do is Get a newswreader... learn how to use the Usenet news servers... and get it from there.

THere is no sharing taking place... so all you actually do is download. Its not illegal to download something but it is when you share or upload it. THey can arrest and charge the uploader. And just an FYI... ALL file sharing programs are risky. You upload as you are downloading so can get in trouble.

The exception being kiddie porn... and just having it will land you in jail, no matter how you got it.

But the Usenet is not easy however... and its not really free. The easier and freer it is, the more likely it is you will get busted by the RIAA Mafia.

But there are services like Rapsody and a couple others that for a monthly fee lets you listen to as much of whatever you want for a set price. That's legal... and not really as expensive as buying everything. You just can't keep it or move it to anything else.

And if you have to pay for the Usenet... a legitimate service will be cheaper every month.
