My daughter is being taken care of by my boyfriends family mine work all the time, she was taken by child services because I was falling asleep a lot, I found out I had sleep apnea and use a cpap machine now but then someone called dss on us saying I was huffing something in front of my 4 yr old. I believe it's his family making these reports saying she is saying these things I can't even see her. What can I do to get her out of there possession and back to me. Is it possible to give her to a non-family member to adopt? If my boyfriend lived else where could he get custody of her? I lost my first child to his rich grandparents and I don't want to lose my daughter also. The mother of my boyfriend has paid to get a copy of my criminal record and in a meeting brought a picture in of my daughter kissing my friend on the cheek and said to the social workers "does she look happy" no one said anything. She's a sweet loving child and she's all I have in this world... please help

You need to get a consultation with Legal Aid. Before you go, have any co-workers, Priests, Pastors, Previous School Teachers, Pediatrician, etc... write a short letter stating that you take good and adequate care of your little one and the only reason she stays with her Dad's family is because of lack of babysitting money. You also need to apply for Head Start or any type of Babysitting or Daycare assistance. The less time she spends with those kind of people the better. If you have a past daycare provider, ask if they would be willing to help you out until your assistance is approved. Check with the Social Services in North Carolina and see if you can sit down with one of the Social Workers and tell her what is going on... I know you said that DSS placed your other little one with the Grandparents, but see if someone there would be willing to help you since you are back to work and making a real effort to be a good Mom. Here is a Non-Profit - No State Social Services related Legal Aid website... its a start... Legal Aid of North Carolina (http://www.legalaidnc.org). Hope this helps!! Post again if you think of something else and I will try and research it for you... just lost my job as a paralegal... Wish I could do more... but all states are so different and I am NJ... Take care and stay focused... your little one needs you to be strong...
