If someone posts a question on this site using full legal names, ages, and city, province and are citing unsubstantiated bad things about the person/persons, can they be sued for slander?

That kind of personal information would get removed by a mod.

Hello M:

If the libelous information caused provable monetary damages, sure.

Actually they would be sued for libel. Slander is the spoken word and libel is the written word.

Yes. Proving the BAD is only HALF of a libel suit. Once you've proven the BAD, then you need to prove HOW MUCH it cost you. If it cost you NOTHING, then you get NOTHING - except a huge legal bill.

Can you expand on what happened on THIS site to cause this concern?

... unsubstantiated bad things ...

untrue things which would cause people to have an unfavorable opinion of the person

"Unsubstantiated" is not the test because that would require everyone to post a link to some source every time they write anything. Hmm, not a bad idea, actually.
