I was out with my dog for a walk and he gulped down a thin plastic bag someone had thrown in the street. It's Sunday so I can't call the vet but I'm really worried. He has a history of digestive disruptions and has a narrowing in his intestine, so he has had a few bouts of vomitting and diarrhoea recently. Is there anything I can give him to make sure he passes the bag or throws it up?

It's probably a bit late for him to throw it up unfortunately but I wouldn't panic just yet.
Mine have eaten all sorts of weird and wonderful things and they have passed through with no problem.

Signs to watch out for if it does cause a blockage are:
Excessive drooling
Lethargy
Vomiting
Whimpering
Shaking
Hunched appearance
Inability to defecate

Thanks, shazamataz. He seems fine so far, but the doctor's said to watch him closely. I hope he gets it out of his system soon.

My 12 year old lab just ate a baggie full of 'something' in the alley when we were walking. Silly guy wouldn't let me take it from him... I'm more worried about the "something" that was in the bag, than the baggie itself... We'll either have a bad night... or some horrible farts tomorrow.
