Hope you guys don't mind, I'm a bit embarrassed of all my questions lately, but I have another one :o

I understand that I should eat more in pregnancy and higher my calories, and I have done but I'm snacking far too much on the wrong foods and I'm putting on a lot more than the recommended Ibs for my first trimester.

But I am eating good meals too, the hunger just gets so bad that I'm snacking on biscuits and bad foods just to stop the pains and nausea before my good meals,

So my question is, can I drink a diet shake for some of my snacks instead of chocolate and biscuits? I wouldn't be dieting nor replacing my good meals.

Major problem here. A diet shake isn't always what it seems to be. For many it has a lot of calories and is meant to be a meal substitute. So as far as calorie count your intake may be much higher then when consuming those types of drinks. Read the labels on them to confirm.

Thank you, I also just realized I could buy a box of cereal bars! Why did I not think of that in the first place  I think these would be a safer way cause I read on them diet shake drinks there is vitamin A in them and also your input.

What about even healthier snacks? Cereal bars aren't the worst, but you've got to read labels again since some aren't much better than a candy bar. What about things like nuts? Dried fruit? Or carrots and celery sticks? Fresh fruit like apples and bananas are usually even good if you're on the go.

Yea I tried that but I've got an almighty sweet tooth since I got pregnant so I thought maybe the chocolate flavoured shakes would help my craving without so many calories, yea I will check the cereal bars also, there are some you can get with a bit of chocolate in them. Why oh why is there no low fat chocolate :(

That's always my problem too! I always get the trek mixes with chocolate in them. I justify it to myself by saying the almonds and dried fruit are healthier. Lol

Some of the cereal bars aren't bad. You just have to be careful which ones you pick.

Is it just the taste your craving or is it something else? Chocolate also contains caffine. Which can cause you to have headaches and things so be careful with that. There is a chocolate substitute that is better for you. And to me it tastes good too. Have you heard of or tried Carob ?

Carob (http://www.gilead.net/health/carob.html)

Quote from the site:

" Carob is a chocolate lovers delight as it is not only delicious, but low in fat and calories, caffeine-free, and lacks the health risks of chocolate. " (end quote)

Mom gets her fix and baby is OK too :D

Here are some in your neck of the woods. You might be able to order from them or at least contact them for more information. The first on the list looks pretty good.
