My wife's PC continues to revert back to a small window in IE7 after rebooting her PC. (XP SP3)

I have tried both of the following:

1) Dragging the non-maximized IE7 window to a full screen size

2) Clicking on the maximize button (square just left of red X in upper right corner of window)

Both of these steps provide a normal, full screen IE7 window, but are not "remembered" after the PC is shut down. Every time she powers up her PC, the IE7 window is about 1/2 screen size, and must be maximized back to full screen.

Her other programs, such as Outlook Express, do not have this problem and "remember" their full size screen.

I'm wondering if there is a way to "reset" IE7 that may solve this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Some people have had good luck with this procedure (https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/computers-beginners/page-size-keeps-changing-262468.html).

Hope it works for you too!

Thanks Wally. I was hopeful that your procedure would work for me, but alas, it did not.

This is my wife's PC and I was not 100% familiar with the circumstances under which this problem ocurres. I fooled around and now know exactly when and what situation triggers this problem.

If I open IE7 from the Programs List, or the Quick Launch Toolbar, it opens in the "maximize" mode with a full screen.

If I open IE7 using a desktop shortcut to any site, it opens in the non-maximize mode, with a 1/2 size window. I tried your procedure on several of these, but it just keeps opening at 1/2 size.

I even tried creating a new shortcut from a full size window, but it still has the problem.

This is only happening in IE7. No other programs. Firefox is okay as well.

Any other ideas?

Is there a way to force an IE7 desktop shortcut to open in "maximize" mode?

Thanks...

Found the solution on another forum. It works!

- Launch IE7 from the Quick Launch icon or the big Desktop "e". Nowhere else.
- Make sure it's NOT maximized.
- Drag the edges to where you want
- Close IE7.

From now on URL shortcuts will open IE7 at that size.
