View Full Version : Old Septic Pipe leaking into basement

I am on a septic system and we had to replace it entirely. The old pipe from the basement was cut in the weeping field and the pipe was sealed in the house. A foot above it the new pipe to the new system was installed. On the inside, around both holes there is a space. No cementing was done.
My problem is water from the snow melting and rain is bringing dirty water from the ground. It is coming in from around the pipes.
I have had the inside wall sealed with a foam and quick plug cement. Now another contractor says it's no good. Although the water has stopped entering. The new fellow wants to open the wall from the inside and seal it again. He informs me he can cement plug it from the inside without digging outside. Is this possible? Is it reliable?
It is still full winter here with spring coming and going. Answer needed ASAP. Thanks for any help

Hi Baxter...

I guess if he is a reputable contractor and he is willing to guarantee the work AND any extras (sheetrock, patching, painting, etc.) needed to fix this should his repair fail then I say you have to give him a shot... ;)

I would check with his references and maybe even the local building inspector to get a real feel about him.

I'd also mention that you could probably do this yourself, but I would recommend that you dig out all the foam and old cement before proceeding and then use a HYDRAULIC CEMENT and patch on the inside and outside of the foundation so you can be sure you have done best job possible.

I would also recommend that you check back on this question over the next day or two as we have some real experienced people here that may have a better solution than I present, OK?
