Sometimes my credit union deposits sign over checks without complaints. I have been with them for over 40 years. Most of the checks are small rebate check from my neighbors who do not have a bank account. Lately the credit union has been giving me a hard time, but they
Still take the checks. Question is: What is the policy of sign over second party checks.
Is there a law or does each bank make there own policy?

I guess you mean double endorsed cheques? Where they sign and then you sign and deposit. No, it isn't unusual for your credit union bank to give you a hard time. No banks here in Ontario will accept a double endorsed cheque because of fraud.

You are probably lucky they do it for you, probably because they know you well and are used to seeing them, but there will come a day when they won't take them and you will have to make other arrangements.

Yes banks are free to set up their own rules on what they will or will not accept
