My 3year old Lab ate a good amount of a plastic milk bottle, caps included. She pooped fine and has just vomitted up the pieces of plastic. I'm concerned cause after a 3rd lot of vomit came up blood began to come up too. It was really gooey and I taught a considerable amount came up. Do you think its serious or its OK now that she actually got the pieces out?

If there's blood I'd worry.

I have a lab too, and they'll eat anything that isn't bolted down. My lab once ate a leather work glove, but all the fingers came out in a bowel movement. :)

Call your vet, ask him/her if you should bring your dog in. Until then, keep an eye out. If there's any more vomiting then get her to a vet just to make sure all is well.

Id have to agree.. If I were to have seen blood, I would take her in.

My dog eats a lot of stuff (toys), and I make it a point to see that she has a healthy bowel movement and no blood..

I say vet. It could be nothing.. or it could be serious.

Chances are the plastic is cutting her throat. Now this wouldn't be a big deal if you knew the plastic wasn't stuck or there wasn't any left, but you don't, and you need a vet to tell you that.

My dog ate a bone about a month ago, it cut his throat going down (So he was puking blood) and it cut his anus when he was going to the bathroom. Now he was throwing up blood and defecating blood, I thought for sure he would die. Once he was at the vet she did some x-rays and it turned out it was fine, it would just be a little agitated.

So don't worry , but take her to a vet to make sure she got it all out so it doesn't cut her stomach/intestines/rectum/anus! That could get pricey!

Thanks for all your answers. Thankfully alls OK. She's now being watched all the time now to make sure she doesn't get hold of what she shouldn't. Ha, have my work cut out for me cause when given the chance she'll grab what she can and its gone before I can blink.
Thanks again.

I'm glad all is okay!

WHY oh WHY don't dogs just accept the wonderful dog food we feed them?

They're little devils aren't they? ;)

Our beagle has found a way to get up on our kitchen table.

We had pizza the other day, left the box with the last two slices on the table, went downstairs for some family time and didn't give it a second thought.

The little stinker got up on the table and ate the last two pieces. My last two pieces! :(

He wasn't feeling too good that night. That should teach him. ;)

Allergy season is my Yorkie's favorite. He just loves eating the used tissues from the trash can. Currently my trash can lives on top of my desk. Little stinker.

I've seen my boxer mix go from a stand still to jumping on my cupboards to grab a small morsel of leftover. Fun times I tell you!

If they happen to eat something sharp like that again, feed them a few slices of bread to cushion the stomach lining. Dogs are scavengers by nature, so their stomachs are designed to handle quite a bit of carp! ;)

It is important to keep doggy un-desirabilia out of reach, just think of it as baby proofing.

LMAO!

Our lab is nicknamed booger nugget, because he likes to eat used tissues. They have to be used. If they're new, he doesn't want them.

He also loves empty pepsi bottles. Not coca cola. They have to be pepsi.

Fussy little bugger.

We're totally hijacking this thread.

I'll start a new one so we can continue our discussion.
