I am a contractor at a company. I typically stay for three month stretches at each location. At any rate, there is this guy who walks by my office all the time and stares at me. He looks me right in the eye and never oggles me at all. He is able to hold eye contact, but cannot say hello to me. He does not have a ring on his finger either. I am not usually shy, but feel shy with him. At first I didn't even notice him, but as time went on, he started to grow on me. I walked by his cube one day and saw a picture with children in it. He seems to go out of his way to walk by my office every day. I feel so self conscious and cannot say hello either. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I am leaving this job in two weeks time. Time is running out! I want to be pursued. Did I mention he is an Engineer and I am a Recruiter. I know that Engineers are not people oriented. Do you think he likes me and is just too shy to say hello? Can that really be possible? I am at my wits end on this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The next time he holds your eyes, smile and say "Hi"...

So what is the game here? The first one to talk buys lunch? You did say he does not wear a ring, but that does not mean he is not married. Maybe your inability to greet this person is really some internal warning system. Who knows? You will not know until there is some verbal communication.

Often if you do not make the move, even on someone passing in the store, your ships will never meet.

Know what's going to happen if you don't try to make contact?

Nothing.

Is that what you want?

Also, worst comes to worst. He's married and hates women and hates you. You're moving away pretty soon and won't have to face that.

Oh, and he likes watching porn on his betamax while drinking pepsi ice
