A new prospect and I had been texting back and forth (and he called a couple times), usually with 2-5 days in between conversations. He had asked me out at one point and I wasn't able to do it that weekend but I said I could do it another time (we met at a friend's party here in NY but he lives in Chicago and was going to fly in). He has followed up with ideas for our meeting... but now I haven't heard from him for about a week. The thing is, my phone was destroyed and I had to get a new one so I was without service for almost a full day. If he did text me and I didn't receive it, should he have followed up by now? The thing is, if he hadn't texted me, I would be contacting him out of turn. What do you think? Thanks.

Contact him. If he did try on that day, he may be thinking you were ignoring him and that you didn't want to keep trying to find a time to get together.
Sometimes, taking turns get thrown out the window when something happens like the means of communication gets destroyed.
If he gets upset at you contacting him about this, then you have a better idea of his personality and what he is looking for in the 'relationship'.

I texted him and he was excited to hear from me, asked how I was doing etc. He didn't mention whether he had tried to contact me in the time when my phone was dead or not but I guess that's a moot point.

Hopefully things are back on track. :)
Good luck.
