My daughtr's father is on ssi and I want to take him to court for childsupport is there a way to do that.

Sure. Just file the motion (or have your lawyer do it) with Superior Court, Family Division for your county of residence. The fact that the father's (sole, I presume) source of income is SSI makes no diffference as far as procedure is concerned. How much you'll get depends on how much he gets from SSI and what the guidelines for your state dictate.

Actually, SSI can be garnished for child support. Regular Social Security benefits (old age/retirement) can be garnished because they are a substitute for income. Supplemental Security Income (SSI), cannot be garnished for child support. You do have the right to have a support order entered, but if the only income the father has is SSI, you may be out of luck trying to collect on it if one is granted.
And that should say SSI can NOT be garnished for child support. Typo... sorry!!
