Hi, how are you.. Thx for the copliment.. Life sux, I have a slow bleeder in my gi tract.. Ive lost about a pint in 4 hours and am still bleading. Went to the er, but they sent me packing.. I can only describe my feeling as rage... If I survive.. They said come back if I go into shock.. Eg Hr over 160, sweating etc... I live alone and am afraid.of sleeping with my bleed... I don't know what to do, to be completely honest.. I could go back to the er, but they.will probably think Im.harrassing.. Immm still bleading profuseley.. If I go into fing shock my vital organs.could be damaged or worse.. What am I going todo?

Where are you bleeding? Go to another ER if you must.

There is nothing 'occult' about 'bleeding profusely.' I am a little concerned that you are throwing out terms and facts that are not so. You say nothing about what the ER said; they don't just 'send people packing' without a clue. Your heart may be racing because you are anxious. Tuck a towel around your bottom and get some sleep. In the morning, find an outpatient clinic or call your regular physician, who will be much more attentive and will explain what is found. I know that ERs do miss things and make mistakes, but there are also very ordinary conditions that cause bleeding in the bowel. You could try to find another ER if you are in a big enough city.

Joypulv, occult bleeding usually refers to rectal bleeding.

Occult bleeding always refers to not visible bleeding.
One online definition:
'escape of blood in such small quantity that it can be detected only by chemical test or by microscopic or spectroscopic examination'

I apologize; didn't know you have Crohn's.
That hematocrit is very low.
I wish you could move to an area with better medical care, or have a regular physician.
