Hello to all. I have a couple problems with my computer:mad: . One is I keep having this box pop up saying cannot find FLASH.OCX. I don't know what that is and why it keeps poping up. Any suggestions? Also. The most annoying thing is that my computer will shut down for no apparent reason. It will happen when the kids are on sites like Nick.com and Disney or if they play a Barbie game. I have windows XP home, don't know exactally what one would need to know to help fix this problem. I have ran my McAffe virus scan with no problems. So I don't think it's a virus. There is no message or warning that its about to happen, it just shuts off. Always starts back up when I turn it back on.

After a bit of searching in reference to the FLASH.OCX. Issue by chance have you installed a screen saver that has stopped working?
Some Screen savers use the adobe flash player and that might be causing your error.
So far as your other issue I will refer you to Curleyben [2nd post on this link]

Thanks for the input. I have checked my screen saver and it seems to have gone away for some reason. I put another one in and it works fine and I have not have the flash.ocx come up yet. Looks like that was the trick. As to what happened to my original... I don't have a clue. As to the other problem, well I went to the other thread you sent me to and I am not sure if that purtains to me. I couldn't make the connection. My computer just turns itself off. For no apparent reason nor an explanation.

do you run CCleaner to clear out old files from your PC ?
ad-ware and spybot destroyer will remove a lot of garbage from your PC that steal resources.
All 3 programs are free
next time your computer shuts down go start/all programs/ administrative tools /event viewer
click each option to the left and look for red X`s in the screen to the right -- any red X`s right click the line/select properties / then support center

What happened with your old screen saver is a adobe update came in and the flash ocx file that your screen saver used was updated and the screen saver would not recognize it any more

Well I run anti spyware, Mcafee virus and quick clean, Windows defender. I have looked in administrative tools and found lots of red Xs. Support Center is not a lot of help to me since I really don't have clue to as what I am supposed to be doing. Someone told me to put my diagnostic CD in for the computer, He said that would tell me if it was a hard drive problem or not?? Well I can't find a CD that says diagnostic on it. Just my luck.
