I had problem with my Permorma PTB 195 LGRW. Replaced the start relay as suggested however, the same buzzing noise comes on and then clicks off without starting the compressor . Buzzes for maybe 15-20 seconds & then off for about a minute. Sometimes repeats 4 or 5 times before kicking the comp. in. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If the compressor is in warranty you should have it replaced; however, if it is out of the 5-year warranty you should try a hard start kit with a start capacitor. This will give you a while longer and may even outlast the rest of the refrigerator. A relay without a capacitor does not give it any extra starting torque like it needs. Sometimes after running a while the compressor will loosen up and run fine for many years. When you have all leads off the compressor make sure to test the compressor with an ohm meter by putting one lead on a terminal and one to ground. If there is ANY reading to ground you have a bad compressor and should replace it and not put a hard start kit on it because it will burn up and may cause a fire. You need a good meter that reads mega-ohms to test it. DrTom4444
