Hi, I am 4 months in to a fixed term tenancy agreement of a year, but it has a six mont breakout clause, unfortunately I have become quite ill and have ongoing medical appointments at the hospital, and wish to end my tenancy agreement, as I have been forced to give up work, and feel it is unfair on my lanlady if we can't pay the rent, how do I legally stand with this? Would I be made to pay the rest of the term even though I am ill? Please help thanks Jenny

I'm sorry, but unless the landlady lets you out of the agreement, there are no illness or injury provisions in tenant law (in any state I've heard of).
You say if 'we' can't pay the rent - are there more of you on the lease? Or living there? Not that it changes your obligation.

Jenny, sorry to hear of your situation. Unless your contract has a "failure to pay because of illness clause", you are legally required to fulfill the contract. See if you can find someone to take a new rental, she may let you out that way.
