I have a very pugent smell that has been apparent for more than 5 months. It is almost a foul, trashy smell and is only in my bedroom. I have central air, but my heat source is gas... I have used both and none in the last 5 months. We have checked for dead animals under the house and in the attic. I had a new roof put on right before summer began (trying to give all the information I can... relivant or not.) Please help! The smell is horrible and I swear I can smell it in my clothes, which bothers me because I'm not a nasty person and neither is my house!

Speaking as someone who lived with live and dead mice all over the house (rural, and mother was a pack rat) I know the smell is so awful it's unbearable. I have found them dead in walls, floors, ceilings, kickspaces under cabinets, in the workings of the washer, dryer, dishwasher, downdraft vent, other vents, oven, cooktop, fridge. Closets, clothes, boxes, books, basically everywhere. They eat almost anything from soap to paper. They make nests out of insulation, dryer lint, thread and other sewing notions. They hide nuts and dogfood all over, where it gets moldy or rotten or pantry moths. And last but not least, they leave urine and feces, another delightful smell. I'm sure that's your smell, and you just have to find them. Our house has too many holes drilled in from outside for cable and electric wires and mice can squeeze into the tiniest space you can imagine. Brown spots on ceilings are signs of dead mice (oozing, sorry). You have to get some cans of Great Stuff and fill every crack.
