I'm going to try and get my mother to take me to the fam OB but I'm scared because I don't know what to exspect. So if anyone can help me I would really be thankful.

When you first come in to the waiting room, you'll be given a clipboard on which is a sheet asking for personal info such as name, address, phone, your medical history, and a list of any prescribed meds and OTC drugs/vitamins you take. Also, you will need to supply insurance info and maybe school ID.

When your turn comes up, you will be led to a treatment room, asked to remove your top and bra, asked to put on a paper gown, and may be positioned on a table by the nurse who will probably also take your blood pressure, temp, check your ears, and take your pulse.

When the doctor comes in, you will be asked to lie down on the table and will be examined. If a nurse isn't present, you can request one (or your mom) to be there. In fact, your mom can be with you all the time, unless you don't want her to be.

The doctor will ask you questions (how long ago did you notice a problem, what are your symptoms, etc.), will poke and pinch perhaps and ask if any of that hurt, and may suggest that further diagnostic procedures be done then or at a future visit with him or with another doctor.
