Dell 410 new battery 8 month ago battery light stays on for 5min then goes off and don't charge

Hello,the reason may be the battery would have dried up as you were using your laptop till it drains complete charge from your battery.usually the battery should be charged at least at 80% DOD (depth of discharge).
