My landlord ( who used to be a friend of mine for 13 years... or so I thought ) is constantly harressing and intimidating me with late night calls and text messages... sometimes terrorizing me.
I have been his tenant for 3 years now and always pay the rent by cheque on the first week of the month. I have never missed a payment. In addition, I pay more than normal tenants, because my landlord doesn`t look after anything in the property and I therefore have to pay high insurances to cover repairs, boilers, etc, which normal tenants in the UK do not have to do as that is sole responsibility of the landlord.
This month, as per usual, I sent him my rent cheque on the first week on the month and on the same day I posted the cheque, I texted my landlord to let him know cheque has been sent ( I always do that every month ). A week later, he started saying he hadn`t received the cheque in the post. I contacted my bank to verify if the cheque had been cashed in, but it hadn`t. I then told the bank to cancal the cheque, just in case and contacted my landlord to inform him and asked him if he`d prefer cash this month( to be quicker and avoid more post delays ). He said he`d come to see me last weekend and I therefore waited with the rent in cash for him. But he didn`t turn up and didn`t even contact me till midnight to say he`d gone to an event. I then posted another cheque and texted him to let him know... this was yesterday and first class post usually takes 1 day ( I sent the cheque 1st class ). But yesterday in the middle of the night he started texting me again, harressing me and being nasty. Then he started calling ( this all happened at about midnight ). I didn`t answer the phone to him and he started texting again intimidating me and insulting me.

I am a woman on my own and feel scared. What are my rights in cases like this and can my landlord haress me and terrorizing me like this?

Thanks in advance for answering.

No one can legally harass you. Turn off your phone when you go to sleep. But if he's going to be annoying like this, start looking for a new place to live.
