Are you the owner of the orthopedic center? Or the customer?

Sanctions for what?

Funny that you're from Alaska (?). I love Homer, Fairbanks, Palmer, Mat-su Valley, Seldovia and especially the Kenai Pen. Ok. Down to business. My husband's MRI reports were verbally given to me instead of him. That's just number one on my ****-list for the Doctor and this Orthopedic Center. I'm taking him to small claims court (which is another story). I'm not looking for $$ for the Hipaa violation and not entitled to any - just want him sactioned and/or fined by the powers that be. Who do I report this to?

As far as what "the powers that be" is concerned, that would depend upon the state you are in. All states have some sort of medical licensing system. One would have to research that by state. For California, try this (http://www.medbd.ca.gov/consumer/complaint_info.html) link.

You noted that HIPAA doesn't entitle you to money damages. But don't forget the remedies it does provide.
