View Full Version : Why has the water pressure dropped after I installed a new water heater?

When I turn the faucets on in the house the pressure is half what it should be. Also when the faucets are turned off the water drains out of the faucet instead of stopping. I replaced the faucet in a bathroom sick and no longer have the problem. I cannot find any debris in the kitchen or bathtub. What should I do?

Hi Kathy... '

Our first question is always to ask if you have checked the aerators at the end of the faucet spouts? If not, remove the aerators and clean them... while the aerators are out turn the water on to completely clear the lines of sediment/debris. Replace the aerators and see how you did... ;)

If that fails to fix the issue then I would suspect that the cold water shutoff going into the heater has not been fully opened or something like that.

Check the aerators and then pop back and let us know the result, OK?

I checked everything. The water is turned on fully and the faucets are clear. When I replace a faucet regardless of where it fixes the problem. It is strange that all my faucets in my house go bad at the same time. The water does not stopped when you turn the water off, it "drains" off. Any other suggestions?

Thank you for your help and suggestions.

Only other suggestion would be to disassemble the other problem faucets and clean the cartridge assemblies... pulsing the water on/off without cartridges in place and then reassemble all and see how you make out.

Good luck!

Thanks Mark, that is my next step. I will post my results when I try this.
