I currently have deep soaking tub/shower combination. I would like to have a step built the length of the tub so that it is easier to access. Any suggestions how to do this? I also wanted to put a fake white column (floor to ceiling) at the front of the outside of the tub. Any suggestions for me?

I would suggest a movable slatted wooden step, cedar, redwood, or recycled teak, if you can find teak. Trying to frame, tile and grout against the existing tub would be trouble, especially if it isn't flat across. Some people will be afraid of a step, so it helps to have it optional.

I don't have any advice about the column. Anything that can collect mildew and mold in corners and edges is not for me, so I'm pretty utilitarian in bathrooms.
