Hello
My eldest daughter is wanting to change her name to the famiy name "George"
I have been with my husband for 7 yrs and married to him just over 2 yrs.and we have 3 children together.
My daughter is nrly 11. Her biological father she has very little contact with but does see her grand parents. There is no legal custody papers I left him when she was 9mths old.my husband has been in her life since she was 4 yrs old.
My question is do I need permition from her biological father to change her name by deed poll?
Can my husband get parental responsibility of her as he has brought her up phyiscally and finacially for the past 6 or so yrs... do we need to do that first to be able to change her name by deed poll

"Where only one parent or person has parental responsibility for a child, that person can lawfully change the child's name. "Change of name (http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_family/family/change_of_name.htm). See also Deed poll - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deed_poll)
