I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I did experience 2 bouts of nausea for 2 days that only lasted 5mins each time, well I haven't had nausea now since the past week, but, throughout the day, everyday, starting from when I wake I feel sick/hungry. What I mean is, have you ever been so hungry you've felt sick? Well this is how I feel all day, it comes and goes. Every morning I wake up and eat a bowl of weatabix and 10mins later I've got that hungry sick feeling again.

So has anyone ever felt like this too? Its my first pregnancy, and I've never actually got sick, just felt like this, and the 2 bouts of nausea.

Thanks :)

Yes, this is normal. You get hungry, and if you don't eat quickly, you start to get so sick with hunger that it's almost difficult to eat. Sound familiar?

The trick is to eat little and often. And by often, I mean every 90 minutes, or at least not more than two hours between eating something. It doesn't have to be big, a few grapes or sucking a boiled sweet is often all you need, but eat regular good quality meals, and keep plenty of snacks handy.

If you get to the so-hungry-I'm-sick stage, frozen grapes can be useful, and a neutral tasting isotonic drink can buy you enough time to eat a proper snack or meal.

My OB always said morning sickness is really "hunger sickness". As Eileen said, lots of snacks through out the day can help. I found that wheat toast & nutrient rich crackers helped me quite a bit. I learned to keep things like that with me at all times and I only got sick a handful of times.

Ginger can help too. If you can find them, ginger Altoids or natural ginger ale are great to have handy. :)

Congrats and good luck!

Thanks for both your help, its absolutely nothing to be complaining about and I'm definitely not complaining, if I can't distingush morning sickness to hunger then I must be one of the lucky ones LOL I think I'm just amazed at how quickly I'm getting hungry nowadays! Every hour my stomach is grumbling LOL
Thanks again

Don't worry, there will be plenty more weird tricks your body plays on you before the pregnancy is through. And often the books are not precise enough. It took me a long time to discover that "little and often" actually mean eating before I was hungry, rather than four meals a day.
