My boyfriend has been sick for almost two weeks now. It started with fevers between 100-102 with stuffiness, horrible wet coughs, etc. I took him to a CVS Minute Clinic and the nurse practitioner said he had a virus and told us to pick up a bunch of OTC medicines. Then, a few days later, his chest started to hurt so bad he couldn't stay still because he couldn't find a comfortable spot that wouldn't hurt him. I ended up taking him to the ER and the doctor there said he probably had bronchitis after ruling out pneumonia. That was a week ago. Now he's still not better (after the ER doctor said he'd be fine after 24 hours) and is starting to throw up every night. He refuses to go back to a doctor because he's now lost his job due to this.

Info: Indiana. 28 y/o male. OTCs - Mucinex D, ibuprofen. Prescriptions - Doxycycline, Tramadol, ibuprofen. (Yes, we stopped the OTCs after the ER visit. He took all of his Doxycycline.)

Your boyfriend should go back to the doctor. Losing his job had nothing to do with the doctor. There is definitely something not right here and ignoring it could have serious ramifications. I presume the throwing up has to do with coughing? If so, they can give him something for that. It is possible that he has pneumonia now. He probably needs a good strong antibiotic.
