Get a lawyer and go to court.

Without more details we can't offer anymore advice that that. Do you really think we can offer any reasonable advice based on what little you posted?

No... I am new at this.. Here are details... not for me, for a friend.
Grandmother has custody. She is ill and in the hospital. Daughter has Kevin living with her (not the mother) What she needs is temp custody so she can enroll him in school. He has been out of school over a week. Ohio, Hamilton County. Kevin is 9 years old

Is the custodial parent lucid? If so they can sign a POA giving her daughter temporary guardianship of the child. This would probably have to be ratified by a court in an emergency hearing, but that should not be a problem.

However, this would probably be very temporary. Without knowing why the grandmother has custody and where the mother and father are, its hard to advise further. The courts would consider the best interests of the child which would involve getting him into school and under care as quickly as possible. But they would also want to look at a long term solution.
