Young boy about 10 years old is left at home by his parents as they go out for the evening, they live in what looked like the top of the empire state building, the boy gets out of bed and wanders around the building and at some point is accompanied by an actor that could have been sidney poitier {but I don't think it was}. The most striking scene I remember was they came upon a room with an old blind man that had been hunting for gold but his greed had led him to canibalise his partner. This must have been 20 + years ago when I saw this, please help its driving me mad!
