I just recently purchased a new Belkin Wireless N-Router to replace an older Linksys Wireless G-Router. I plan on using the old unit as an access point to expand my wireless coverage.

Is there a specific order to set up? Should I just set up the Belkin first then configure the Linksys disabling the DHCP? I originally was going to follow the steps at http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-basics/30338-how-to-convert-a-wireless-router-into-an-access-point , but the site is not working.

Are you planning on connecting the Belkin to the Linksys via an ethernet cable?

Yes. The basement is remodeled and I have new ethernet connections at a couple of locations for future CATV connections. I plan on using one of those drops for help extend the wifi signal

Instructions for DYI WAP setup (http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/1575/using_an_old_router_as_a_diy_wireless_access_point/index3.html)

Since you will be using the Linksys as an Access Point the above instructions should be exactly what you need. The instructions use a Linksys Router so the settings shown should be very accurate!

NeedKarma finds this helpful: Good link, I am thinking of doing this as well in the near future.

As am I. I live in a 3 story townhome and my current router is on the top floor and we're adding a TV, couch, etc... in the basement and the signal isn't as strong down there!
