A 30 year old garage door opener requires the wired switch button to be hit twice in succession (like a second between) for it to close. Does this make sense? Can I buy a remote that is compatible with it?

This is my neighbors and she can't afford to buy a new opener. The wired switch can open it and the remote can open it. The wired switch, if hit twice, can close it, the remote cannot close it.

Thanks

Does wired switch have a electronic lock button?

Genie makes a retrofit kit which replaces the receiver and remote. According to Genie, it works on ALL OLD GARAGE DOORS. Check it out at their site. I believe it is around $50. Good luck
