Sir
Can I use a SATA Hard Disk on my Dell Dimension 4400? The Dell support agent says I cannot use it as the mother board does not support it. But, I see ads on the web for so many IDE-SATA interface cables etc. What are they? Are there any controller cards which can help?

IDE-SATA is similar to a scsi device it requires a motherboard which matches or a special pci card to allow the use of the drive.
In your case the Dell may allow you to use the IDE-SATA as a second hard drive but not as the primary drive

Try this site and send them an email
IDE/SATA/SCSI : ICCT Computers, Buy Computer Parts, Laptop, LCD TV, Digital Cameras, and Electronics (http://www.icct.ca/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=107)

Hi Scouter

Thank you very much and could you please suggest any special pci card for this?

Just do a WEB search for SATA Controller cards.
