Live in NJ and work in DE - do I pay both DE and NJ Sate Income taxes as I have heard, with no reciprocal ?

You'll probably want a professional tax preparer to do your taxes. My husband and I live in Alababma, but work in Georgia-we've ALWAYS had to pay Alabama State taxes-we generally get enough back to take it out of the Georgia State that's withheld from our paychecks, but can't guarantee that would happen for you.

You do have to file returns for both DE and NJ - they do not have a reciprocal agreement. You file with DE as a non-resident, paying tax on your DE-based wages. Then you file in NJ as a resident, reporting all your income but taking a credit for taxes paid to DE. So yes you file with both states, but are not "double taxed."
