Due to a massive snow storm I was called and told that when I came to work to pack a bag and plan to stay. I worked my regular schedule, but slept at the hospital instead of going home. I worked the night shift 7am - 7pm and then slept in an empty room and then went back on the clock at 7pm to work my shift. I was at the hospital from Monday to Thursday am. Are they required to pay me for the time I was there, but not working because I was unable to leave?

And this situation is not covered by union contract or employee hand book, I guess?

Were you fed or expected to get your own food?

Which state are you working in?

Yes, I was fed. This is in Oklahoma.

I say no. You were not on duty. You were "simply" spending the night there for YOUR convenience.

Yes, they did not lock you in or make you stay, but asked you to or provided you a place to stay, ( guess they did not bill you for the place to stay)

You get paid for only the time you were actually working
