Need advise my children have always been very healthy and now all of the sudden my five year old son had a rash this was three weeks ago and started as small pimple ike bumps on his feet and legs. After seeing our pcp he was diagnosed with scabies and prescribed permethrin cream 5%. Three days later hisw rash spread to his entire body and became large red splotches that are raised off the skin. I took him to the local er and he was then diagnosed with hand foot and mouth disease the doctor only seen him for three minutes so I took him to anouther er and after seeing this physician he has been diagnosed with hives, viral infection, itch and non- specific rash and put on benadryl and prelone 15 mg daily. I am concerned because now he is running fevers and the diagnosis keeps changing. I need help please

Where do you live? Cold or warm? Does he go barefoot? Animals in house or yard? Any cut or insect bite hole on feet or lower legs? Has he had shots for rubella etc? Any part of him not covered by rash (face etc)? Any lawn weed or insecticide treatments? How high is his fever? Does your PCP know about the fever? When was the last time you talked to him or her?

Going from ER to ER is just not the way to get the best care. You need consistency. If a doctor is wrong, he will see it and say so.

Did anyone say that they ruled out a bacterial skin infection (cellulitis)?

What about animals? Stepping barefoot in feces? Any chance of fleas? Bedbugs?
Did you slather him carefully all over with the scabies lotion? (But scabies doesn't reach the feet or face... )

Yes we have animals but he is not allowed outside without shoes and pcp said it was not fleas or bed bugs I did carefully spread the cream through out his whole body. What ever tthis is is localized to him since he has been ill he sleeps with me
