My boyfriend had a vasectomy at the end of November, and I had my mirena iud removed dec 8th after 3 years of use. My period prior to the iud was very regular- despite exclusive breastfeeding, it cam a month to the day after my daughter was born. After having the iud for several months, it became irregular. After removal, I began my period immediately (dec 8th) and had it again jan 1st. I have not had it yet this month, and have had severe fatigue, nausea, headaches, dizziness, and just began getting heartburn. 3 urine tests taken 2 and 3 days ago were negative. My breasts are just becoming slightly tender, and oddly tingly, but nothing like the incredible soreness I experienced immediately after conception with my daughter. Is there any chance I am pregnant, despite the negative urine tests?

It would be unlikely given your boyfriend having had a vasectomy. (did he go back to have a sperm count done afterwards? Did you use another form of birth control until that time?)

If you had unprotected sex soon after his vasectomy, he may still have had enough sperm present for you to become pregnant.

It may also be your body is adjusting to ending the mirena and your cycles will be off at first.
Your period for this month may just show up a bit late, or you may possibly even skip it.

If you don't have a period in the next week or so, try a pregnancy test. If it is negative, see what happens when your period is due for next month and test again if necessary. If you continue to feel as though you are having possibly pregnancy symptoms, see your doctor and they will test you there.

We weren't using protection at any point after the vasectomy, and he was told not to bring in the sperm sample until the end of February, so he hasn't been checked. I just had my thyroid tested to see if there was another explanation for such fatigue, but that was normal. I read some posts about women who were pregnant post-mirena, but urine tests showed up as negative until several weeks after their missed period, or a blood test was done and showed pregnancy. I keep thinking, though, that my breasts would be much more tender if I were pregnant, since they were unbearably sore with my daughter.

Have you been using another form of birth control until he has his recheck?

Sometimes it can take several weeks before a positive result shows up, but that is not due to the mirena, that is just an individual occurrence.

If you are indeed pregnant, you won't necessarily feel the same symptoms, or at the same time, as you did before. One pregnancy can be different from the next either very much so, or in a few areas.

Since it is still early in the month, I would give it another week or two and see what happens. Test at that time. If negative... wait and see what happens in early March or you could ask your doctor about having a blood test to confirm.
