Length of a room is 1.5 times its breadth. If its height be 3.3 m and volume be 495/4 m*m*m, find length and breadth of the room.

Let the length, breadth and height of the room be l, b and h respectively.

First sentence tells you that:

l = 1.5b

Second sentence tells you that h = 3.3 m and the volume is 495/4 m^3

The volume of the room is given by the product of all the three sides, or:

V = lbh

Substitute in the values you have, and you get:

\frac{495}{4} = lb(3.3)

You now have two equations with two unknowns. Find l and b. What do you get? :)
