Hi - I am tired of having to replace the faucet stems and seats on my tubs. Before I buy yet another rebuild kit is there anyting that I can do to possibly purchase a better more robust solution ? I am only getting about a year out of these on average. Over time, you have to crank them further and further to make the water shut off. I know most of the problem may be people in the house cranking them too much even in the beginning when they are working properly. Is there any better way ?

Thanks,

Why are you purchasing the kits? All you need most of the time is the washers and seats. These can be purchased at local hardware store. You said seats. You are actually replacing the seats aren't you? With new seats, the washers should last a number of years.

Yep, I agree. If you install new seats and new washer they should last for years IF they are quality materials. Try to buy only name brand kits like Sioux, Moen, Kohler
