I have letters from him stating that he doesn't want anything to do with the kids.. (two in question) and he really is crazy. He is also wanting visitation/ custody. You go to Court (these proceedings are user friendly) and see what he has to say. Some Courts will appoint an Attorney for you if things get complicated.
