I have a 1990 ford probe. Was backing it out of the driveway with snow. Got stuck and put it in drive and then reverse to try to go back or forth. Now, I can't get it into any gear. The tires don't even spin. The car still starts. Could you give me some ideas of what could be wrong?

The transmission likely needs rebuilding or replacing, if the transmission pan has not been dropped and cleaned, filter changed, and fluid replaced every 30,000 miles. This is what Ford recommends. When this is not done, it's easy for clutch packs to wear out and slip, especially in extreme weather. ATXs are the weak link on most vehicles.
